The Seattle Orcas ended the Cognizant Major League Cricket season 2 with a 37-run loss against the Texas Super Kings at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas, Texas.

Winning the toss, skipper Heinrich Klaasen decided to bowl first. Seattle made four changes to the playing XI, with Ali Sheikh, Ayan Desai, Michael Bracewell and Nandre Burger all coming in. Debutant Ayan had the perfect start to his MLC career, scalping the big wicket of Devon Conway with his very first delivery.

Things only got better as Cameron Gannon bowled a beautiful out-swinger to dismiss Joshua Tromp. Texas captain Faf du Plessis was in full attack mode though, playing some brilliant strokes before being finally dismissed by Keemo Paul for 39.

Some tight overs in the middle along with some regular scalps kept Texas in check. But Calvin Savage (45* off 27) and Cameron Stevenson (17 off 11) played handy knocks, helping the Super Kings to a total of 177/8 in their 20 overs. Ayan and Keemo scalped two wickets each and were the pick of the bowlers for Seattle.

In reply, the Orcas had a shaky start as Ryan Rickelton was dismissed for a first-ball duck. Quinton de Kock and Shehan Jayasuriya then stitched together a 52-run partnership to steady the ship for Seattle. The wicket of Shehan by Savage though would turn the tide of the match. Quinton de Kock soon followed suit and Klaasen and Bracewell also could not make a big score with the bat.

Keemo Paul and Shubham Ranjane tried their level best with the bat, notching up scores of 25 and 16 respectively, but recovering from the middle-over jitters proved to be too tough for the Orcas.

Seattle would end up with a 37-run loss, ending the season on a disappointing note. But the club is determined to bounce back with a bang in 2025.
